On September 23, 2024, the formation of the District-level Young Human Rights Defenders Network in Humla District, comprising 28 members, and an orientation program related to human rights were successfully conducted under the Ekata Project of Karnali Province, operated by ROYM Nepal in partnership with the economic cooperation of AEIN Luxembourg. Thanks to INSEC, the Federation of Nepali Journalists, and the NGO Federation Humla for their coordination. The program was attended by the president of the NGO Federation, the Assistant Chief District Officer, the provincial president of non-governmental organizations, representatives of organizations working in the field of human rights, the Police Superintendent, the district president of non-governmental organizations, and the coordinator of the Karnali Province Human Rights Defender Network among others. The HRD network program was completed with the participation of youth representatives from all seven municipalities of Humla District. Additionally, a 13-member secretariat committee was also formed.
The network aims to empower young people to actively promote and protect human rights in the community. By raising awareness, advocating for policy changes, supporting victims, fostering collaboration, and building capacity, among others, we strive to make a significant impact. Together, we are stronger, and with the dedication and passion of our youth, we are confident that we can make a significant impact in promoting and protecting human rights in Karnali Province.
